May 2010

Our Dear Friends,

Early in May, Barb and I had opportunity to participate in the annual Missions Festival at Christ Church of Oak Brook in IL. There were approximately 27 missionaries representing various ministries in the U.S. and other countries. On the day we arrived, we began a schedule of events that kept us very busy until the final gathering on Sunday afternoon. Events included home dinner meetings, church missions dinner, (450 attended) a special workshop for the missionaries with members of the missions leadership team, and speaking assignments at various Sunday School classes. We shared time in our class with a couple from Kenya, Africa.

The Missions Festival was a time of tremendous blessing for us as we interacted with the missionaries, missions leadership team and members of the congregation.

We took a few days off, Memorial Day weekend and the first couple days in June to drive a vehicle to Bristol, VA for Barb’s daughter and son-in-law. They moved from WI to VA due to a job transfer. We stayed a couple days with them to assist with some painting of the home they have recently purchased in their new location.

As we traveled south on the weekend, we stopped in Indiana to watch Barb’s grandson (a 6′-9″ H.S. Sophomore) play in a basketball tournament. It was a good break for us and we witnessed some exciting basketball. Early the next morning we continued our trip to Virginia, arriving at our destination in the late afternoon.

Prayer Requests:

Please pray for continued good health for both of us.

Pray that doors of opportunity this summer will open for us to assist our native people whether it be in evangelism, discipleship, or the ministry of helps.

- In Wisconsin there are 5 Ojibwe reservations, and, Oneida, Menominee and Potawatomi, and our Ojibwe people of northern Minnesota. We look forward to God’s leading and a open door to serve our people.

Blessings,

Ray and Barb Smith
