CHIEF Bible Institute Opening!

Dear Friends,

Good morning from snowy cold New Mexico!! Yes we are finally having winter. Two snow storms already this week and another to hit us on the weekend. So far about a total of 5 inches, but thankfully as soon as the sun comes out bright and shiny it will all be gone! No school today for most of the surrounding areas and a delay earlier in the week.

The CHIEF Bible Institute will begin on March 4. We are very excited. Many have shown an interest, but will wait and see who shows up. Will most likely be a small start but it is a start and we are excited. Our Pastor Tim has dreamed of this for years as has Steve. Think they will be a great team. Continue to pray for the classes, the teachers and the students that will be a part of this.

We will have the Lord’s Supper on Sunday and Pastor has asked Steve to lead. This is always a great time to fellowship and to bring people together in a special way. We also have a business meeting after church as well, just to talk through all the Institute and the general organization of the church. We are just loving the people in the church and see such caring of each other. We welcome a new member this week with the birth of a baby girl to Shane and Lila. This is their fourth. We have all been anxiously awaiting her birth. Please pray for baby and Mommy.

We will have a Valentine party on the 16th. An Italian theme so lasagna and spaghetti are on the menu, plus games and fun. I ill be helping with the planning and set up and cooking. Looking forward to it.

Thanks so much for your prayers as we move forward with this Institute. We are trusting God to bring us the students to strengthen the Native leaders that we so desperately need.

Love to all,

Steve and Chris

  1. Good afternoon,

My name is Jacob Valtierra and I am a second generation Christian of Ojibwe and Blackfoot descent. I currently hold a Bachelor’s of Arts in Youth Ministry and have been Youth Pastor at CityView Church for 2 years, I have been teaching theology and spiritual gifts at Teen Challenge Institute for 1 year and I have been the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at North Central University for 2 years all located in Minneapolis, MN.

My parents are Tom and Cindy Valtierra and I have helped serve the Native community in Minneapolis for the past few years and my heart is to be a part of a Ministry School specifically designed to raise up young Native leaders.

I was wondering if you have any opportunities or advice to help me continue to seek God’s leading in this area?

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

    God bless,
