Spring update

May 2020

Dear Personal Friend of CHIEF,

We thank and praise God for your love and fellowship in the Gospel. Your prayers and financial support is truly the lifeline of this ministry. CHIEF is taking the Word of God to hundreds of tribes and thousands of Native First Nations people every month through web casting, CD’s, Native Bibles, New Testaments, Gospel tracts, evangelism outreaches, discipleship training, Bible Institutes and practical helps. It is marvelous in our eyes to see all God is doing among our Native People. Hallelujah!

In recent months, we have experienced the unprecedented impact of the Coronavirus among our Native Nations and communities. I was on a conference call with the President and Vice President of the Navajo Nation. They were giving an update of the impact of the virus among their people and the needs they currently face. On March 17th, they were faced with the first 2 confirmations of the virus among their people. It has been approximately one month and now they are the 3rd hotspot in the US. On Easter weekend the President and Vice President of the Navajo Nation called a National Day of Prayer for the families and individuals of their people. I was one of several Native pastors asked to lead in prayer that day.

You could feel the anxiousness in the air. There were a lot of unknowns and uncertainties regarding the future days to come. As I prayed, I thought of Scripture and the many times God’s people cried out to the Lord in prayer for deliverance and salvation. I could imagine what it was like for the people of Israel on the night of the first Passover as they prayed for protection and deliverance from the plagues and the angel of death taking life from the first born of Egypt. I can imagine what it was like when in the desert they saw Pharaoh and his army coming to conquer and destroy them as they faced the Red Sea and what looked like no way out. I can imagine David wrestling with fear and anxiety while running from Saul’s sword and raw hatred. Can you imagine, the anguish and turmoil, our Lord faced when He struggled in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane yet submitted to the will of His Father.

I began my prayer by quoting Isaiah 41:10 where God says, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My Righteous Right Hand.” It is wonderful to know Our God never leaves us, forsakes us nor abandons us. Scripture teaches us that He created all things, He sustains all things, and He upholds all things. As I continued to cry out to the Lord on behalf of the Navajo Nation, I asked each individual to put their trust and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Faithful One. He is the One Who saves and He is our Deliverer.

I am asking you to fervently pray for the Navajo Nation. There are 350,000 members. The President and Vice President are outstanding men of God. They have asked for Godly wisdom as they serve their people. Pray for the safety and health of the families. Many homes are multi-generational, so you could have four generations living in one home. They are in need of nonperishable foods, medical disinfectants and medical masks.

I am asking you and your church or Bible study group to consider giving a financial gift that will help us continue to serve the many Native Nations. CHIEF has been asked to give Native Bibles and Native testimonies of hope and encouragement in each food box that is distributed among the Navajo families. I am counting on you to prayerfully consider what God would have you do to help share the Hope and Love of Jesus Christ to our Native people.

I have included in this letter our CHIEF Prayer Quarterly. Pray for the many requests we are receiving from Native pastors, tribal leaders, first responders, and families affected by the virus.
Please mail, call, or give online YOUR BEST GIFT TO CHIEF! We need your financial and prayer support more than ever in this vital and ongoing ministry!

I am deeply grateful for your love and fellowship in the ministry of CHIEF.  I can’t thank you enough for the vital part you have in reaching our precious Native people with the Gospel.  I am asking of you; will you join me in giving the most generous gift you possibly can as we continue to serve the next generation of Native Christian leaders for the Glory of God.

May God bless you abundantly!                                                               Donate
